Over the holidays, companies typically see a change in the annual cadence of business. For better or worse, the next couple of months will see a shift in the number of people coming in and out of your business as well as an uptick in PTO & sick days taken by employees and staff. The increase in travel around this time of year only heightens the spread of illness as people encounter germ pools they aren’t typically a part of and, thus, are more susceptible to whatever’s “going around” in that community.
As the manager of a midsized to large company, what can you do to take proactive steps against these troubles? At Sonlight Cleaning Services, our team of cleaning care managers and providers are adept at the processes of deep cleaning and disinfecting. In today’s article, we’ll be talking about how to address high-traffic areas (where germs most often spread) and in the next article, we’ll discuss deep-cleaning strategies that can further help keep everyone in your office suite officially healthy!
Here are some special considerations that can help keep your space clean and inviting during the holiday season:
Entryways and lobbies – As the weather chills, no longer will folks linger to wrap up a conversation as they head to their cars. Instead, entryways and lobbies will become common ground for both conversation… and coughing. Additionally, the wet winter months we often see here in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex provide the perfect conditions for muddy entryway mats and slick hallways as foot traffic brings the outside in during this season. It is especially important, therefore, to take advantage of a day porter service for facilities that have a lot of employees, staff, or visitors during this season. End-of-day cleaning is also important to ensure that the dirt that gets brought in earlier in the day is not tracked further into the building the next but is rather swept, mopped, and/or vacuumed so it looks good as new for the following morning.
Restrooms – Clean restrooms reduce the spread of illness. It’s not something we often want to think about but a clean restroom can absolutely affect your bottom line. A restroom that is lacking paper towels or soap, for instance, actually encourages the unwanted behavior of leaving the facilities without first washing hands. And even the youngest child knows how important this simple act can be for reducing the spread of germs! (Did you know that Sonlight Cleaning Services is a Jan San provider? Meaning that we take care of the ordering and restocking so you don’t have to give it a second thought!)
Break rooms & kitchens – These spaces are wonderful for fostering community and camaraderie within your office. This is the time of year when coworkers and colleagues linger an extra moment over the communal coffee pot to ask, “How was your Thanksgiving?” Encourage the fostering of relationships by ensuring break rooms and kitchens are clean and welcoming. Our Sonlight Cleaning staff members wipe down high-touch surfaces, disinfect countertops, and clean floors so as to ensure these high-touch shared spaces are welcoming for your team members.
Stay tuned for part 2 of this series and to hear how Sonlight Cleaning Services can simplify your work this holiday season, leaving you freed up to enjoy time with friends and family.
