Yesterday as I pulled into the supermarket parking lot, I saw something that surprised me. The heat was just sweltering–the thermometer on my dashboard display read over one hundred degrees (unfortunately, this wasn’t the surprising part). As I parked the car and pulled my toddler out of his car seat, I made a mental note to grab a cart near the door. Last time, I grabbed one out of a nearby cart stall and almost burned my hand it was so hot! But despite the unbearable sauna of Texas, the reminders are already out. So what was the surprising thing I saw? The first of many signs this season reminding me to get a flu shot.
Can you believe another flu season is just around the corner? A 2007 CDC report shared that the average employee takes an annual average of 14 sick days, many of these during “flu season” which generally runs from October through as late as May. Now, some of these sick days are personal and others are for family illness, but the hard truth remains that illness is more than just bad for the individual, it’s bad for business.
But the even more amazing part is that according to the same report, one simple act could help prevent one million deaths each year. Want to take a wild guess? If you were paying attention in kindergarten or listened to your mama, you probably already know. “Wash your hands!”
That’s right. The simple act of handwashing cuts down on foodborne illnesses, respiratory infections, staph-related infections… organizations ranging from churches to businesses to medical facilities to schools could regain countless hours with a little bit of hot, soapy water! In fact, according to the study, schools that added hand sanitizing stations in classroom decreased absenteeism due to illness by almost twenty percent.
If you manage one of these types of facilities, what can you do to promote handwashing? Well, you probably shouldn’t count to thirty over your customer or employee’s shoulder as they suds up. But you can do two very important things–keep your bathroom clean and well stocked!
The janitorial and day porter services provided by Sonlight Cleaning Services can take care of both of those matters. Our team takes sanitation seriously. Not only will your handwashing stations be clean in appearance, they’ll pass the germ test as well. Our personnel also use a electrostatic disinfectant sprayer. The sprayer features electrostatic technology allowing disinfectants to wrap conductive surfaces with better coverage. There is no need for our personnel to touch or wipe surfaces being disinfected reducing the risk of Cross contamination
We understand what it takes to get a facility truly clean. (Do you know what the required dwell time is for different types of cleaning chemicals? We do!)
We also keep your bathroom well-stocked. Even the most devoted hand-washer is deterred when there’s no soap in the pump or paper towels in the dispenser. Sonlight can track, order, supply, and restock the most commonly-used San Jan supplies, including soap, hand sanitizer, paper towels, fragrance machines, tissues, and other restroom products.
Flu season may be right around the corner, but you won’t be caught empty-handed (or germ-handed) with Sonlight on your side! Contact Sonlight Cleaning Today!!
